EANM'14

Kongress in Göteborg/Schweden
18.10.2014, 08:00 - 22.10.2014, 20:00

Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine

Invitation Letter Wim J.G. Oyen On behalf of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 27th Annual EANM Congress in Gothenburg, Sweden in October 2014.

Nuclear medicine is developing at a rapid pace, establishing a solid foundation in clinical as well as experimental medicine. The EANM meeting promises to be a highlight for the multidisciplinary community that forms the heart and soul of nuclear medicine. There will be plenary lectures devoted to nuclear medicine therapy, hybrid imaging and molecular life sciences. Distinguished speakers will address the state of the art and new developments in clinical and allied sciences, covering a broad range of topics. The multidisciplinary symposia organised throughout the meeting will truly reflect EANM’s mission to interact with other European and global organisations, with the goal of providing the best possible care for our patients. Continuous education has always been an important feature, and this will be fostered to the benefit of our entire membership. As always, the latest achievements in clinical nuclear medicine, science and technology will be communicated during featured, oral and poster sessions. At the end of the meeting, the highlights will be summarised by two lecturers, Prof. Marion de Jong from Rotterdam, Netherlands and Prof. Koen van Laere from Leuven, Belgium.

Personally I currently have the good fortune to chair the EANM Scientific Committee, which is aiming at achieving the highest quality through close collaboration; to this end, we have two tracks in the main programme, clustering multicommittee involvement. Of the many initiatives that you will be able to attend during the meeting, I would especially like to mention the 5th International Symposium on Targeted Radionuclide-therapy and Dosimetry (ISTARD), which will be held in conjunction with EANM 2014. Furthermore, for the first time there will be a Biology Track, an initiative of the EANM Committees for Translational Molecular Imaging, Radiopharmacy and Drug Development. The activities in this track are mainly scheduled for Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 October and promise to promote high-quality research through interaction between basic and translational clinical scientists.

Besides the scientific and educational activities that you will be able to enjoy during your attendance at EANM 2014, the Local Organising Committee, chaired by Prof. Peter Gjertsson, chair of Nuclear Medicine at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg and President of the Swedish Society of Nuclear Medicine, will do its best to make you feel welcome in the city of Gothenburg.

I sincerely hope that you will all find your way to Gothenburg in October 2014 to actively participate in our annual EANM congress, to meet and interact with friends and colleagues from all over the world and to enjoy Gothenburg’s hospitality.
